Dave Mason

Dave Mason was born on the shores of Lake Ontario, where a future as a lifeguard might have seemed more likely. But after his family moved to the suburbs—near the shadow of four radio station transmitter sites—everything changed. The day he walked into one of those stations, he says, he “walked into his future.”

Dave’s career in radio has taken him from Buffalo to Los Angeles, with many stops in between. His favorite? Right here in this part of the country.

One of the true joys of his work is sharing music he first played when it was brand new. Along the way, he’s met many of the artists behind those songs—from The Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas, to Chubby Checker, Tony Orlando, and Phil Collins—far too many to name.

“I’ve always been a fan of the creators of these great songs,” Dave says. “Now I get to play them every day on WAKY. It’s the thrill of a lifetime to be part of such a legendary station.”

Ben Bailey

Ben Bailey knows the area well, having been on the air in far western Kentucky as well as managing several radio stations in the mid south previously. Ben says,"being on WAKY for me is extra special because I got to play all these great songs the first time around when they were brand new. Goes to show you that the best music never fades away." Ben and his wife Adrianne have been together for nearly 25 years and have a small "petting zoo" of cats and parrots. When not on the air, you may catch Ben on occasional session work or with various groups as a trumpet player.

Jim Garrison

My wonderful wife has joined in my radio passion for the last 25 years. I became a part of the WAKY family in 2012 but only recently joined the WAKY on-air staff. So, it's truly an honor to be part of such a long-standing Kentuckiana tradition! Thanks in advance for giving me the chance to be a part of your weeknights, 7pm - 12m.

EDITORS NOTE: Jim is the creative talent behind many of the outstanding commercials you hear on WAKY!

Monica Reed

Hi, I’m Monica—a longtime radio professional who’s been living my childhood dream behind the mic for nearly 30 years. When I’m not on the air, you’ll usually find me baking something new, tending my garden, or diving into a woodworking project. I’m a proud mom to a teenager, and fall Fridays are reserved for cheering from the football stands. At home, my two very spoiled dogs make sure life is never boring. I stay busy balancing family, friendships, and community involvement, including one of my favorite roles— volunteering at a summer camp for kids with medical challenges, where they get the chance to simply be kids and have fun.

Future Bob

"Welcome to the Future" has been reverberating over the Kentuckiana airwaves for longer than he'd like to admit. You've heard him up and down the dial and probably shared a beverage or two with him at the Tiger or Phoenix Hill. After lengthy negotiations with a guy in an expensive suit, and against everyone's better judgement, Future Bob (a legend in his own mind) is back on the air at the legendary WAKY. He's still a 90 day probationary hire, so if he messes up document it and send to Karen in HR.

John Quincy

A native of Lexington, Kentucky, John Quincy caught the broadcasting bug as a teenager after sneaking a transistor radio into a church camp in Fern Creek. It was there that he discovered WAKY and legendary personalities like Johnny Randolph, Dude Walker, Gary Burbank, Weird Beard, and Mason Lee Dixon. From that moment on, he knew radio was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Over the years, John has been fortunate to work at radio stations across Kentucky, Georgia, and South Carolina. Now, decades after that first memorable listen, he has the privilege of being on the air at Fun Lovin' WAKY each week—a true full-circle moment and lifelong dream realized. When he's not playing Kentuckiana's Greatest Classic Hits, John and his wife happily serve as the "staff" to their five cats. His hobbies include collecting vintage radio jingles and maintaining a tribute website dedicated to the original WAKY, 79WAKY.com, preserving the rich history of one of Louisville's most beloved radio stations.
